American Legion

The Carroll McDonald American Legion Post #246 of Wall, SD, was named in honor of Carroll A. McDonald, the first casualty of World War I from this area. The Carroll McDonald Post was organized in 1929 and has been an active group since its foundation. Thanks to the Carroll McDonald American Legion Post, rows of American flags line the Wall Cemetery each Memorial Day. Veterans buried at the Wall cemetery are also honored by having their names inscribed on the monument within the cemetery erected and maintained by the Legion Post.
